Moore CPR

Moore CPR is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that provides free CPR training to communities in Austin, TX. The agency was founded by the Moore family and is led by Beckett Moore, who started this initiative after experiencing sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) during a strength and conditioning camp for football at the age of 14. During the incident, Beckett collapsed, and thankfully, an athletic trainer was present. The trainer quickly realized Beckett needed CPR and, along with the school principal, performed CPR for over 20 minutes until emergency medical technicians (EMTs) arrived and restored his heartbeat using an automated external defibrillator (AED). Beckett spent nine days in the hospital and received an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator as a precaution. Beckett has a healthy heart and enjoys a normal, happy life today.

Beckett’s older brother, Hudson, is also a strong advocate for heart-safe programs. At the age of 14, Hudson was diagnosed with Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome (also known as WPW) during a free heart screening conducted by the Championship Hearts Foundation. This rare condition involves an extra electrical pathway in the heart, which can cause an abnormally fast heartbeat (tachycardia). Such episodes can lead to sudden cardiac death in children and young adults. Hudson underwent surgery to ablate the extra electrical pathway and now has a normal heart.

These two experiences have inspired the Moore family to advocate for free heart screenings through the Championship Hearts Foundation and to establish Moore CPR to provide CPR training and AED awareness.
